Electro energy reaps financial benefits with efficient inventory counting
After replacing paper with a digital inventory solution, technical wholesaler Electro Energy has achieved a more efficient inventory count that has also resulted in financial gains. The inventory solution was developed in collaboration with Delfi Technologies.
An efficient warehouse plays a major role at Electro Energy, which has one of Denmark’s largest stocks of spare parts for oil boilers, gas boilers, solar heating, solar cells, heat pumps and energy systems. Electro Energy is working with digitalization in many areas, and the warehouse is no exception. That’s why the company has replaced paper with a digital warehouse solution developed in collaboration with Delfi Technologies.
A customized website provides an overview of the counted result at Electro Energy’s various warehouse locations. Counting is now done simply and quickly via a mobile PDA/handheld terminal (Delfi Nova) instead of manual counting on a pair. As soon as data is loaded from the handheld terminal, it is displayed in a live overview on the website, including counting difference, stock difference in DKK and with the possibility of quality assurance of the loaded data.

Previously, the inventory count and subsequent difference adjustments took up to several weeks to complete. After introducing the new digital inventory solution, Electro Energy gets the registrations directly into the system and can process the output immediately. This means that the time spent on inventory counting has been cut from weeks to hours. On the website, Electro Energy can also check counting differences and have the corrected stock data transferred directly to the company’s ERP system.
– We were looking for a solution that would make inventory counting both easier and faster. At the same time, it should be possible to reap financial benefits when implementing a new solution. Delfi Technologies has played a significant role in developing the right inventory solution. The solution provides the necessary overview and results in significant time savings. This means that we can do our work more efficiently, says Birger Christiansen, Finance Manager at Electro Energy.
– At the end of the day, we can ultimately offer our customers a better service based on the freed-up employee time. Employees can instead use their technically strong skills on the customers instead of running around counting goods,” Christian Gulløv concludes.
The development project has been an agile process where Delfi Technologies has been involved from the start – from needs analysis, graphic drafts, ongoing testing and adjustments to handover, training and subsequent follow-up on implementation. Delfi Technologies has also helped develop a 24/7 self-service solution for Electro Energy, which allows customers to come and pick up spare parts around the clock – all year round.
