AID DEPOT FAVRSKOV MUNICIPALITY
Digital Tool Helps Municipalities with Health Efforts
In collaboration with Systematic, which delivers software for critical functions in society, Delfi Technologies has delivered a digital tool to Danish municipalities, where the important daily tasks at the country’s assistive device centers can be handled through the use of smartphones and barcodes.
Today, the municipalities’ assistive device depots are represented with service centers throughout most of Denmark. It is a time-consuming and often large logistical task to handle the thousands of assistive devices that are moved daily between storage and citizens in a municipality, at the hospital, patients, or between nursing homes and residents.
One of the country’s assistive device centers is located in East Jutland’s Favrskov Municipality, which was among the first municipalities in Denmark to adopt a new digital solution, delivered in collaboration with Systematic and Delfi Technologies.
THE PAPER HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH a DIGITAL SCANNER SOLUTION
The care system Columna Cura is used today by the country’s municipalities for handling, among other things, home care, nursing, training, assistive devices, visitation, and data about citizens at all care centers. Columna Cura is developed by Systematic in collaboration with the municipalities, creating a strong foundation for an electronic citizen record.
Cura Assistive Device is used for ordering and delivering assistive devices, where inventory management and order receipt are conducted digitally. Here, barcodes are used to identify the assistive devices.
Previously, however, there were a number of paper-based processes that have now been digitized. The entire process from packing the assistive devices in the warehouse to delivering them to citizens was previously conducted using paper for registration and documentation.
"Environmentally, it is a clear advantage as we have replaced a significant amount of paper-based work processes with a digital solution."
The paper has now been replaced with a digital scanner solution. Here, barcodes and smartphones are used to record employees’ work processes at the assistive device depots.
– Environmentally, it is a clear advantage as we have replaced a significant amount of paper-based work processes with a digital solution, says Camilla Skovgaard Andersen, who is a team leader in assistive device services at Favrskov Municipality.
The scanner solution is particularly used for registering assistive devices for citizens in connection with issuance and return, repairs and cleaning, as well as exchanges.
AN IMPORTANT WORK TOOL IN DAILY LIFE
But the new smartphones are not just for registering assistive devices – they are also an important work tool for employees, handling many different tasks.
Employees can also use the mobile devices to get an overview of driving routes and access important information about tasks and patients. There is also the possibility to scan a given assistive device and display information about it on the screen.
At Favrskov Municipality, as well as in other Danish municipalities, it is largely about spending time on the core task – namely providing care, support, and assistance to the citizens who need it.
The digital scanner solution helps municipalities ensure correct registrations and documentation.
– After we implemented the scanner solution, we have achieved a significant improvement in our data security, says Camilla Skovgaard Andersen.
MANY MORE POSSIBILITIES NOW
Favrskov Municipality has been one of the pioneering municipalities in implementing the scanner solution with barcodes. The barcode solution consists of smartphones (model: Delfi PM85) from Delfi Technologies, which communicate with the Columna Cura system from Systematic, where all data is registered.
The shift from paper to a digital solution has led to a range of new possibilities. This means, among other things, that Favrskov Municipality has become aware of a range of optimization opportunities, where one could work smarter in the future. Delfi Technologies is continuously in dialogue with Systematic about further development of the existing solution. Today, several of the country’s municipalities also use the newer Delfi PM90 PDA.
