"When you operate in the low‑price segment, there is no buffer. If the technology doesn’t work, it has a direct impact on operations. That’s why our systems must be stable and consistent — regardless of country or store. For us, the collaboration with Delfi Technologies is not just about hardware and software, but about guidance and sparring that ensure a stable and scalable solution — from the first technology choices until the system is up and running."

When low prices demand high precision – jem & fix has cracked the code

At jem & fix, mobile devices and centralized management have become the backbone of operations across more than 230 stores in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. A clear example of how digital management can be transformed into measurable efficiency in the DIY retail sector.

jem & fix is Denmark’s only pure low‑price DIY retailer and today operates 139 stores in Denmark, 80 in Sweden and 20 in Norway. The chain is known for a simple concept, low prices and an uncompromising focus on efficient operations.

As Denmark’s only pure low‑price DIY retailer, jem & fix builds its business on a simple principle: cut all unnecessary costs to guarantee the customer the lowest price. This places high demands on operational reliability and standardized workflows for more than 3,000 employees.

Low prices require systems that work without exception. That’s why mobile solutions and centralised management play a crucial role in the chain’s daily operations across countries and stores.

– When you run a low‑price operation, there is no buffer. If the technology doesn’t work, it hits the operations directly. That’s why our systems must be stable and consistent, regardless of country or store, says Martin Davidsen, IT Administrator at jem & fix.

One central grip on thousands of devices

From the headquarters in Vejle, the daily operations of the stores are managed digitally. In collaboration with Delfi Technologies, jem & fix has upgraded its MDM solution (Mobile Device Management) to SureMDM from 42Gears.

The goal was a new system for managing apps and configurations across countries, chains and stores — without losing oversight.

– We needed a new MDM solution that would allow us to easily divide by countries and chains and control which apps are placed where. We’ve gained the necessary overview and the ability to react quickly, explains Martin Davidsen.

The solution is cloud‑based and makes it possible to configure, manage and roll out devices centrally at high speed — without any physical presence in the stores.

– For us, the collaboration with Delfi Technologies is not just about hardware and software, but about guidance and sparring that ensure a stable and scalable solution — from the first technology choices to the system being in operation, says Martin Davidsen.

When stability becomes a competitive parameter

When you run a business where all unnecessary costs have been cut away, operational stability becomes essential. When the devices are switched on in the morning, they need to work immediately.

– The employees shouldn’t have to think about the technology. When the device starts up, it simply has to work. That is absolutely crucial for us, explains Martin Davidsen.

With remote access and central troubleshooting, issues can be resolved quickly without disrupting store operations. At the same time, the MDM setup creates room for continuous innovation.

A concrete example is the use of AI in the outdoor yard, where a monitoring system automatically detects when a car is ready to pay and sends a notification directly to the employees’ mobile devices.

– AI is already part of our everyday work. The potential is huge, and we need to be ready to take advantage of it, says Martin Davidsen.

One tool throughout the entire workday

In the stores, the mobile focal point is the Datalogic Memor 12 — a robust handheld device for retail and logistics, where speed and operational reliability are essential. It combines fast scanning, high performance, a clear display and wireless charging.

At jem & fix, the Memor 12 is used for stock counting, product lookup, goods reception, printing shelf labels and product labels, self‑scanning in the outdoor area, and handling complaints with photo documentation, where cases can be created directly in the system. At the same time, the device provides access to the intranet, website, video surveillance and other central systems.

The result is a single, unified work tool that follows the employee throughout the entire day — and which, together with the cash register, is among the store’s most important functions.

Quality at the right price

The choice of the Memor 12 follows the same logic as the rest of the business: quality at the right price.

– We chose the Memor 12 because we get a robust and fast device at the right price. The scanner function is quick, the user speed is high, and the employees don’t have to wait for the technology, says Martin Davidsen.

The large screen and wireless charging contribute to a smoother workday — even when the pace is high.
