On 2 October, the doors opened to a new SPAR store on Smedestræde in Rørvig. Here, customers are welcomed by bright, modern surroundings – with digital price tags as an integrated part of the new store.
For store owner Henrik Købke Søeborg, a modern grocery store is not just about layout and product range. Technology must also help support day-to-day operations and make it easy to keep the store up to date.
SPAR Rørvig Smedestræde will be the town’s second SPAR store. There is already a SPAR on Rørvigvej, but the two stores are not intended as copies of each other. Instead, each should offer customers different shopping experiences and create more opportunities to shop locally.
The new store is designed with a focus on making it easy and inspiring to find your way around. The departments are clearly divided, including an in-store bakery, deli and a prominent wine section, where the products are presented in a separate alcove.
As part of the new store, digital price tags from Delfi Technologies have been installed.
In a grocery store, prices and offers change continuously. With many products on the shelves, manually replacing paper labels can quickly become a time-consuming task – and at the same time, the risk increases that a label won’t be replaced or won’t match the current price.
– When you have so many products and ongoing changes to prices and offers, it just makes good sense to have a digital solution. It makes it easier to keep the store up to date and also ensures that customers always see the correct price, says Henrik Købke Søeborg.
At SPAR Rørvig Smedestræde, prices are updated automatically via the store’s system. When a price changes, the information is sent wirelessly to the relevant price tag. This means the store can keep prices and offers up to date without employees having to walk around the store and replace paper labels manually.
This provides both a more efficient workflow and greater certainty that the customer sees the correct price on the shelf.
Rørvig is an area with a big difference between weekdays and the summer months. The store is located in a summer house area, and the store owner therefore also expects activity levels to rise significantly when the summer house season really gets underway.
Already at the opening, interest from the local area was clear. Local customers said they had been looking forward to seeing the new store and are looking forward to being able to shop centrally in Rørvig again.
– It’s great to feel how much the locals have been looking forward to the new store. They think it has turned out really nice and easy to navigate, and we’re looking forward to becoming part of everyday life here in Rørvig, says Henrik Købke Søeborg
With a new and modern store, a clear local presence and digital solutions on the shelves, SPAR Rørvig Smedestræde is now ready for both local customers and the many guests of summer.
