MY GROCERY STORE MØLDRUP

Min Købmand Møldrup future-proofs generational change

The merchant couple at Min Købmand Møldrup will soon be ready to pass on the baton. Pia Ambrosius grew up in the grocery store and has run the business with her husband Hans-Peter Ambrosius for the past 26 years. A couple with a huge zeal for continuous improvement, they have renovated and optimized the 460 sqm store several times. Most recently, they have implemented electronic shelf labels.

Pia Ambrosius is the 5th generation owner of the local Min Købmand in Møldrup, and the time will soon come for Pia and Hans-Peter to retire and let new forces come in. Earlier this year, they announced an upcoming generational change to Per Thorsgaard, who will take over the business in the fall of 2023. They are ready for this, and they feel confident to spend the next few years handing over responsibility and thus the business to Per Thorsgaard.

HIGH AMBITIONS TO OPTIMIZE AND STREAMLINE STORE OPERATIONS

During their time in the business, the couple have renovated and improved the store several times. In 2002, they expanded their physical premises, which included the farmhouse they lived in. Today, the store has 460 square meters, as well as a 270 square meter warehouse, office, kitchen and staff room.

For several years, however, the couple have had a desire to optimize once again. They have seen how their colleagues have installed electronic shelf labels and thus streamlined price labeling – and this has been on their wish list for a long time. So has new fixtures and fittings.

– The electronic shelf labels from Delfi Technologies are a long-term investment in the store that will also benefit the next generation, says Pia Ambrosius, owner of Min Købmand Møldrup.

– The store is like our own child, and we only want to give the best conditions to the new grocer and hand over a store we are proud of, adds Pia Ambrosius, 5th generation owner of Min Købmand Møldrup.

"We have never regretted the investment we made in digital price signage - on the contrary, we have future-proofed the store for the new grocer."

DIGITAL PRICE SIGNAGE STREAMLINES EMPLOYEE TIME AND FUTURE-PROOFS THE STORE

Therefore, a major planning process began with the placement of new inventory, as well as what and how many electronic shelf labels the couple needed. The result was over 4,000 electronic shelf labels, 200 of which are special yellow signs (Chroma Yellow) used to mark yellow-priced items. The entire store was completed in the summer of 2021.

– Now that we have electronic shelf labels, we can change and adapt our prices in seconds. We no longer have to spend Friday evenings replacing paper signs. We have never regretted the investment we made in the digital price signage – on the contrary, we have future-proofed the store for the new grocer,” emphasizes Hans-Peter Ambrosius.

Fortunately, the customers also share the couple’s enthusiasm for the newly renovated and beautiful store. The shopping experience is now complete, and customers are slowly getting used to the fact that Per Thorsgaard will be running the store from now on.

Hans-Peter and Pia are looking forward to having even more time for their children and grandchildren, and the many other activities they have on the side. Pia has taken an acupuncture course and Hans-Peter sits on several interesting boards, where he attends weekly meetings.
