Sarfaarsuit Center opens in Nuuk: 9,000 m² new retail centre brings together shops, restaurants and technology

Pisiffik is behind one of the largest retail projects in Greenland in recent years. With Sarfaarsuit Center, Nuuk will soon have a new retail hub with international chains, modern store technology, a restaurant and a café.

When the new retail and experience centre of nearly 9,000 m² opens its doors in Nuussuaq in Nuuk later this year, it will be home to, among others, JYSK, ILVA, a new Pisiffik grocery store, a café (Cafeerta) and Burger King with drive-thru. The ambition is to make the centre a natural stop in a busy everyday life.

Behind the project is Pisiffik, which wants to create a modern retail and meeting place between Nuuk and Qinngorput, with a focus on shopping, food experiences and services.

Pisiffik is one of Greenland’s leading retail companies, with activities in groceries, home, lifestyle and e-commerce. With a strong local foundation and a focus on developing attractive shopping experiences, the company continuously invests in new concepts and retail destinations that strengthen both the local community and the customer experience.

More than a shopping centre

As part of Sarfaarsuit Center, work is underway to establish a new DIY store under the name Sannatit. The aim is to give private customers, professionals and DIY customers access to a wide range of building materials, tools and inspiration for home projects.

The ambition is for Sarfaarsuit Center to become more than a traditional shopping centre. With a deli area, fresh-baked bakery sales, a restaurant and modern store environments, a place is created where people meet, shop and spend time.

At the same time, the centre strengthens local services by making quality shopping more accessible for the area’s residents and visitors.

Technology to enhance the customer experience

A key part of the project is investments in modern store technology. In collaboration with the IT company Delfi Technologies, Pisiffik is implementing solutions that make everyday life easier for both customers and employees. From digital price tags and intelligent checkout solutions to modern POS equipment and technology for day-to-day store operations, an efficient and future-proof store environment is being created.

The result is faster price updates, more efficient customer service, fewer manual workflows and more flexible operations – all with the purpose of ensuring a better shopping experience and high service in the centre’s stores.

A new gathering point for Nuuk

The name Sarfaarsuit comes from the Greenlandic word sarfaq, meaning current, and is meant to symbolise a place where several currents meet – an idea that reflects the ambition to bring together people, experiences and everyday needs in one vibrant centre.

With the opening, Nuuk will gain one of Greenland’s largest modern retail centres and a new local hub for shopping, services and experiences.

Sarfaarsuit Center is a modern retail and service centre under development in the Nuussuaq district of Nuuk, Greenland. The centre is being established by the retail group Pisiffik and brings together grocery retail, home and lifestyle stores, as well as restaurant facilities under one roof, with a focus on creating a local retail destination for both residents and visitors. The project is part of Pisiffik’s strategy to strengthen retail and improve shopping opportunities in the Nuuk area.
