Region Zealand implements a new software solution that will help the staff at the hospitals within the region to optimize the patient identification.
With a focus on digital patient identification and its possibilities, Region Zealand has invested in a new central software solution for all the region's hospitals. The goal is to strengthen and ensure the patient safety while facilitating the staffs' work.
The software solution, Delfi EasyScan, has been developed by Delfi Technologies and consists of barcode software, barcode scanners, and wristband printers. It is a central barcode solution, which enables new technology opportunities and combines different work functions in one solution. New barcode scanners will, among other things, help to shorten workflows and provide a better overview.
The project with Region Zealand started in 2015, based on a desire to digitize the patient identification process. Since then, the project has evolved to cover other areas, as it became clear, that the software solution had even more technological and digital opportunities.
Henrik Bang, healthcare consultant at Delfi Technologies, points out that there are several quality gains in sight for Region Zealand hospitals.
- This is basically all about work-related quality gains, but also technologically. A variety of features and workflows have been assembled into one central software solution, which also includes barcode scanners and patient wristband printers. It offers some completely new opportunities and is also an economic advantage, says Henrik Bang.
Delfi EasyScan is implemented at all Region Zealand hospitals. There are 3,300 installations in total. Additionally, there are ongoing projects with other regions in Denmark. Delfi EasyScan is used for several processes at hospitals such as registration of social security number on health cards, scanning of patient bracelets, receipt of blood products, A-puncture match, receipt for use of sterile items, implants, receipt of samples and direct link to documents and programs via QR code.
