PLANTORAMA
Plantorama is growing – and so is the customer experience
Denmark’s largest garden and pet center chain is investing in a new and large inspiring garden center in Egå near Aarhus. Here they are making an extra effort for the customer experience with initiatives such as a coffee bar, playland and electronic price tags, giving employees more time for customers and the necessary advice.
Plantorama opened its first garden center in Egå near Aarhus back in 1987. In the very same town, the chain is now opening a new and large garden and pet center after taking over an attractive location from a competing chain. A lot of effort and exciting new ideas have been put into a major remodeling of the new garden center, which also sets completely new standards for quality and customer experience. When you enter the new garden center, you will be greeted by experiences for all souls – from children and adults to those with a green thumb, animal lovers and coffee enthusiasts.
– Our strategy is centered around our customers. This means that it should be a great experience to visit us. That’s why we’re introducing coffee and food experiences as well as a playland for the kids. With electronic price tags, we can also improve the customer experience while increasing efficiency in our garden center, says Heidi Paaske Christensen, Project Coordinator at Plantorama.
IT’S ABOUT DARING TO TAKE SOME CHANCES
The new customer experience initiatives are part of Plantorama’s strategy, which in all its simplicity is based on putting customers and their needs at the center. However, the introduction of electronic shelf labels is also an initiative that benefits employees, allowing them to spend more time on their core tasks.

With the opening of the new garden center in Egå near Aarhus, Plantorama presents a new generation of the classic garden center. The new location is also a flagship store where new and different initiatives are tested.
– You have to dare to take some risks to win customers. In our new garden center, we have turned every area to see if we can make an extra effort for the customer experience. The electronic price tags are just one of the areas and they give the employees more time for the core tasks they love, says Heidi Paaske Christensen enthusiastically.
At Plantorama, they are aware of the positive impact of electronic price tags on the customer experience and employee satisfaction, but they also have a positive attitude towards environmental considerations.
– In addition to time, we save huge amounts of paper by replacing the traditional shelf labels with electronic price tags. The fact that you as a garden center can also be at the forefront of new technology and sustainable solutions also plays a big role,” Heidi Paaske Christensen concludes.
