24/7 self-service saves time and makes for happy customers at Electro Energy

Technical wholesaler Electro Energy has introduced 24/7 self-service, offering customers the opportunity to pick up spare parts around the clock – all year round. It is a store solution developed in collaboration with Delfi Technologies.

At Electro Energy, the customer’s needs are at the center of every conceivable process, internal as well as external, and this has helped drive the company’s success. Today, the company embraces many different industries. It works with smoke laboratory services, technical training and spare parts for the energy industry.

Spare parts for energy solutions are part of the core business. A newly developed 24/7 self-service solution allows customers to come and pick up spare parts around the clock – all year round. This means that there is no longer a need to wait for a guard to come and open the spare parts warehouse outside opening hours. As a result, the customer no longer has to pay a guard fee, saving both time and money. The store solution was developed in collaboration with Delfi Technologies based on the specific needs and process requirements defined at the start of the project at Electro Energy.

– Customers are really happy with 24/7 support. Now they can come and pick up spare parts when needed without us having to respond – even if it’s in the middle of the night. We save a lot of time and driving, so we are very satisfied with the solution that Delfi Technologies has developed together with us, says Thomas Rasmussen, store manager at Electro Energy in Glostrup.

FAR GREATER PRODUCTIVITY FOR ALL PEOPLE IN THE LOGISTICS PROCESS

The new self-service solution offers customers 24/7 availability and has enabled faster and more efficient pick-up of spare parts. Customers enter the store via a key fob, which is scanned at the self-service checkout. It’s a solution that contributes to increased productivity for both employees and customers, with a significant optimization of the logistics process, explains CEO Christian Gulløv:

– After introducing 24/7 self-service, we can see significant gains. Customers are happy as they save both time and money in the process of picking up spare parts. We have also achieved a big gain on the employee side, as we no longer have to drive out and open our warehouse now that the customer can come and pick up goods around the clock.

In addition to the customized self-service software, we have Delfi Technologies also supplied the other components of the 24/7 solution, which consists of a self-service checkout with a robust POS PC (model: Fly-tech K769). Kunden logger på PC’en med sin nøglebrik, hvor en integration til nøglebriksdatabasen, au-tomatisk udlæser kundens information og gør klar til varescanning. Kunden scanner herefter de pågældende varer med en stregkodescanner (model: DelfiScan C90) og afslutningsvis får Electro Energy besked om at en ordre er modtaget. Kunden får desuden en kvittering på den tilhørende bonprinter (model: Bixolon SRP-350PlusIII) samt en elektronisk faktura tilsendt på mail.

A parallel digitization project at Electro Energy is efficient inventory counting, which is also done in collaboration with Delfi Technologies. By replacing paper with a digital solution, Electro Energy has gone from weeks to hours in the process of counting stock and subsequent difference adjustment. Both development projects have been agile processes in close collaboration with Electro Energy based on a needs analysis at start-up, graphic drafts for approval, ongoing testing, training, delivery and installation.
