NORMAL
Efficient labeling of goods in NORMAL’s new logistics center
A key challenge for NORMAL is dealing with different countries’ labeling requirements. To ensure efficient and accurate relabeling of goods, NORMAL has Delfi Technologies therefore helped implement BarTender labeling software in the chain’s new, state-of-the-art 78,000 m2 logistics center in Hedensted.
NORMAL is a Danish retail chain, founded in 2013, offering a wide range of everyday products at competitive prices. The company has expanded rapidly across Europe and now has stores in several countries. NORMAL continues to grow by offering a unique shopping experience that attracts a broad customer base.
With the opening of a new state-of-the-art 78,000 m² logistics center in Hedensted, Denmark, NORMAL has ensured that they can keep up with growing demand and expand their capacity to serve up to 1,000 stores across eight countries. The logistics center consists of six warehouses with space for around 100,000 pallet spaces, ensuring efficient and fast distribution of goods.
"One of the first steps is to define a new label. Our purchasing department defines the text so that it is legally correct. And then we have a system called BarTender software, where you can define the label, print it out, and then they are rolled up, typically a few thousand pieces - and you give that roll to the employees."
Legally correct product labels in different countries
In NORMAL’s business model, goods are purchased where they are cheap and then sold across different markets. This often presents challenges with product declarations, as different countries have individual legal requirements and standards for product information. To ensure that all products meet the requirements of each country, NORMAL needs an efficient and reliable solution for relabeling products.
To solve this challenge, NORMAL partnered with Delfi Technologieswho helped implement BarTender labeling software from Seagull Scientific for relabeling goods. The BarTender software is a flexible and powerful solution that makes it possible to design and print labels that meet various legal requirements and specifications.
Thomas Knudsen, Device Specialist at NORMAL, explains the process:
– One of the first steps is to define a new label. Our purchasing department defines the text so that it is legally correct. And then we have a system called BarTender software, where you can define the label, print it out, and then they are rolled up, typically a few thousand pieces – and that roll is then given to the employees.
A flexible and user-friendly labeling solution
BarTender label software is one of the leading solutions for designing and printing labels and barcodes. It is possible to design custom labels and barcodes that can be adapted to different purposes and specifications. With an intuitive drag-and-drop design tool, users can quickly create labels with text, images, barcodes, QR codes, graphics, logos and other elements.
The implementation of the BarTender software has given NORMAL a flexible labeling solution that can adapt to different markets and regulatory requirements. This enables them to quickly and efficiently relabel products to suit different markets.
Delfi Technologies has also supplied Zebra handheld terminals, barcode scanners, tablets and label printers, all of which help optimize inventory management and productivity in the new logistics center in Hedensted.
