DAGROFA - DENMARK
Store managers rent their stocktaking solution
New handheld terminals speed up stocktaking and make good financial sense in the Dagrofa Group. Dagrofa has purchased a total of 700 of such terminals. The store manager rents the desired number of terminals on a weekly basis and Delfi takes care of all the technical and logistical aspects. The terminals arrive at the store updated and ready to use in a specially designed case.
“We already have electronic ordering for 60% of our product range, but now we can take stock of the remaining 40% using scanners. The entire stocktaking process can be carried out in three hours, because we can book handheld terminals complete with the program and everything. They are delivered right to us. And when you have 17 scanners running at once, you can quickly scan all the items on the shelves,” says Per Jensen, SuperBest Store Manager in Køge.
"We get a better and cheaper solution by joining forces with Delfi."
EVERY TERMINAL IS UPDATED DAILY
In the past, the grocery store in Køge found that 3-4 out of 5 handheld terminals from another supplier did not work properly or were not updated. Now, every terminal is updated daily with the current product catalogue. The complete solution works very well, and Dagrofa’s IT Procurement Manager, Per Ahlmann, confirms that the store managers are generally positive about the Dagrofa solution comprising terminals supplied by Delfi. “My impression is that everything is running without a hitch,” says Per Ahlmann.
Outsourced to Delfi
SuperBest in Køge rents the desired number of handheld terminals for a week at a time. All the terminals are made by Motorola, which is owned by Dagrofa. Each terminal comes in a specially designed case with a cradle and all the extra equipment neatly placed in protective foam rubber. Dagrofa outsources maintenance, updating and logistics to Delfi, where a team of dedicated customer service assistants stay in regular contact with the stores in the Dagrofa Group.
“We get a better and cheaper solution by joining forces with Delfi. The most important thing is that the technology works well and that Delfi’s staff keep the scanners working optimally so that employees out in the stores can save time and work effectively,” says Mikael Celta, IT Procurement Manager at Dagrofa.
”The investment in the new terminals is recouped in a little more than a year. We therefore expect to be able to reduce the rental fee further in future. But what’s more important is that the stores get a boost. Delfi’s customer service assistants stay sharp and check the terminals before they are sent out to the stores. The details are all in order. For example, fast order confirmations and notifications to the store that the terminals are on the way. Good old fashioned service,” says Mikael Celta.
PROFESSIONAL AND CONSISTENT INTERACTION WITH THE STORES
When 1,200 store managers request one of Dagrofa’s terminals, they receive a handsome case containing a Motorola terminal with built-in and updated software. Dagrofa outsources the technical and logistical aspects to Delfi, which sends the terminals directly to the individual store managers.
“It’s like changing from a 2CV to a BMW. We can use the Motorola terminal for both stocktaking and ordering. This saves us tons of time, because everything is done electronically and we can correct any errors immediately. It just works,” says Per Jensen, SuperBest store manager in Køge.
For Dagrofa, this means that in this instance Delfi’s staff represent the Group in relations with the stores. A close and trusting relationship between the parties is therefore essential. And Mikael Celta praises Delfi’s staff for their kind, professional and consistent interaction with the stores.
Profile
Dagrofa is one of the largest grocery groups in Denmark. The Dagrofa Group operates within the business areas of retail, wholesale and food service. Each area comprises a number of units, each specialising within their market segment.
Solution
Dagrofa wanted to help 1,200 stores with 700 modern, handheld terminals for stocktaking and ordering.
Result
Dagrofa leaves the logistical and technical aspects to Delfi Technologies. The store manager rents them for a week at a time and stocktaking can be quickly carried out in the entire store with the use of, say, 20 scanners at once. The Group can recoup its investment in the course of just over a year and the store managers have access to all the terminals for a lower rental fee than previously.
ROI of one year
The store managers rent the new terminals at a fee that is 20% lower than they used to pay and Dagrofa expects to be able to reduce the fee even further in future.
