IRMA KØGE

After almost 50 years in the city: new clothes for Irma køge

Irma Køge has been upgraded after the store moved to a new and better location at the new station square in the shopping area Strædet in the summer of 2018. In connection with the relaunch, the Irma store has been elevated to a completely new and urban concept, which also includes electronic price tags and more time for customers.

Irma has been located on Nørre Boulevard in Køge since 1972. The premises were well and truly worn out and the time had come for a solid upgrade. After almost 50 years in the city, the opportunity for completely new premises arose in connection with the opening of the new shopping area Strædet. The Irma store now offers a new urban concept with high-quality interior design, more space for fruit and vegetables as well as meat and wine. In addition, the store now has electronic price tags, which frees up more time for customers.

– “We have saved a lot of time since we introduced the electronic shelf labels, especially on Thursdays, when a new newspaper starts every week. But this does not mean that we have reduced our staff – we just have more time for other tasks, explains Nicklas Enevoldsen, Store Manager at Irma Køge.

A WIN FOR BOTH EMPLOYEES AND CUSTOMERS

Nicklas Enevoldsen is from the local area and has been store manager at the former Irma store on Nørre Boulevard for 15 years. “The fact that the store has moved to a new and better location and at the same time got new clothes can be felt among the employees,” says Nicklas Enevoldsen.

– The employees really appreciate the new and more modern surroundings. They are also happy that they no longer have to change shelf labels every time there is a new price or a product change in the range. Now the shelves are automatically updated with the right information, which of course also benefits customers.

Irma is undergoing a comprehensive modernization of the chain, where 45 stores are being redesigned according to the strategy ‘The Urban Irma 2018-2022’, so they appear more like a food house with an Irma supermarket. This means that street kitchens/delis will open instead of traditional butcher departments – with many more high-quality ready-made food solutions. There will be specialized departments for vegetarians and vegans and there will be many more products that you can’t get anywhere else.
