KVICKLY HELSINGE

Successful cooperative has the largest profit in the country

Helsinge is home to the retail cooperative with the best earnings in the country. The local Kvickly store is good at making money. In the future, even more energy will be spent on customers and staff. Electronic shelf labels play a crucial role here.

There are hundreds of cooperatives in Denmark, but none make money like the one in Helsinge. Helsinge brugsforening was the Danish cooperative with the highest profit before tax in 2019.

Today, Kvickly Helsinge has an annual turnover of approximately DKK 250 million and has grown to become a large and successful business. Recently, the local Kvickly department store got a new director.

The new store manager, John Øager Byrian, has ambitions to continue the successful journey and good business acumen. In the future, there will be an even greater focus on customers and staff in the store.

– It’s about focusing more energy on customers and how we meet them. In relation to staff, we need to focus on the areas where we can make everyday life easier for them,” says John Øager Byrian.

That’s where electronic shelf labels come into the picture, where the solution from Delfi Technologies has a major impact on employees’ everyday life in the store.

"Electronic shelf labels make everyday life easier, it makes the whole process of managing products and prices much simpler, and it creates more time for other important tasks in the store."

A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE FOR CUSTOMERS

The Kvickly chain is part of Coop, which is Denmark’s only customer-owned grocery company. Coop also has an ambition to be the grocery company that is most focused on customers and makes the biggest positive difference for them.

It is especially the chains and stores that are closest to customers that can make a difference for customers.

– A good customer experience is paramount – after all, they’re our livelihood. This is where electronic shelf labels are an important tool. This way we can always ensure the same price on the shelf and at the checkout. At the same time, we give our employees more time to focus on the customers,” explains John Øager Byrian.

EMPLOYEES AT THE CENTER

The new store manager is in charge of 220 employees – he is an experienced grocer with 35 years of experience in the grocery industry and more than 20 years with Coop. He opened his first store at the age of 27.

In addition to a unique customer focus, the new store director will also focus on making everyday life easier for staff. He will help managers to become even better leaders and put employees at the center.
