DAGROFA - DENMARK

Dagrofa merchants rent their status solution – easy and profitable

New handheld terminals speed up inventory counting and provide good economy in the Dagrofa Group. Dagrofa has purchased a total of 700 handheld terminals. The grocer rents the desired number of handheld terminals on a weekly basis, and Delfi is responsible for all technology and logistics. The handheld terminals arrive at the store ready and updated in a custom-built suitcase.

We already have electronic ordering for 60% of the product range, but now we can scan the status of the remaining 40% of the products. We do the total status in three hours. The reason is that we just book fully finished handheld terminals with program and everything. They are then sent to us, and when you have 17 of them running, you can quickly scan all the products on the shelves,” says SuperBest merchant Per Jensen from Køge.

"We have both a better and cheaper solution by partnering with Delfi."

ALL HANDHELD TERMINALS ARE UPDATED EVERY DAY

Previously, the supermarket in Køge experienced that 3-4 out of 5 handheld terminals from another supplier did not work or were not updated. Now all handheld terminals are updated every day with the current product catalog. All in all, the overall solution works well. Dagrofa’s IT Director Per Ahlmann confirms that the merchants are generally positive about the Dagrofa solution on terminals supplied by Delfi. “My impression is that it runs smoothly,” says Per Ahlmann.

Outsourced to Delfi

SuperBest in Køge rents the desired number of handheld terminals for a week at a time. All the terminals are Motorola terminals owned by Dagrofa. Each terminal comes in a specially designed case with a cradle and all accessories neatly placed in shock-absorbing foam rubber. Dagrofa has outsourced maintenance, updating and logistics to Delfi, where permanent service employees are in regular contact with the stores in the Dagrofa Group.

“We have both a better and cheaper solution by partnering with Delfi. The most important thing is that the technology works well and that Delfi’s employees ensure that the hand scanners work optimally so that the employees in the stores save time and are efficient,” says IT Purchasing Manager Mikael Celta from Dagrofa.

“The investment in the new terminals has paid for itself in just over a year, so we expect to be able to reduce the merchants’ prices further in the future. But the crucial thing is that the stores get a boost. Delfi’s service staff are on their toes and check the terminals before they go out to the stores. The details are in order. For example, quick order confirmations and messages to the store that the handheld terminals are on their way. Good old-fashioned service,” says Mikael Celta.

Profile
The Dagrofa Group is one of Denmark’s largest grocery groups. The Dagrofa Group operates within the business areas retail, wholesale and foodservice. Each area contains a number of units, each of which are specialists within their market segment.

Solution
Dagrofa wants to support 1200 stores with 700 modern handheld terminals for status and ordering.

Results
Dagrofa lets Delfi Technologies handle logistics and technology. The grocers rent them for a week at a time so they can quickly and electronically take stock in the store with perhaps 20 scanners running. The group recoups the investment in just over a year, and the merchants get the terminals cheaper than before.

Earned back in one year
Grocers rent the new handheld terminals 20% cheaper than before, and Dagrofa expects to be able to reduce the price further in the future.

PROFESSIONAL HANDLING IN COLLABORATION WITH STORES

When 1200 merchants order one of Dagrofa’s handheld terminals, they receive a nice suitcase with a Motorola terminal with built-in and updated software. Dagrofa has outsourced the technology and logistics to Delfi, which ships to the individual merchant.

“It’s like switching from a 2CV to a BMW. We can use the Motorola terminal both for status and for ordering goods. We save a lot of time because everything is electronic and we can correct any errors immediately. It just works,” says SuperBest merchant Per Jensen from Køge.

For Dagrofa, outsourcing means that Delfi’s employees in this field are the face of the group towards the stores. Therefore, it is important to have a close and trusting relationship between the parties. And the IT procurement manager praises Delfi’s employees for friendly, professional and consistent interaction with the merchants.
