Salling Group: Rapid digital transformation – 13,000 devices, 3 countries, 90 days

In just 90 days, Denmark’s largest retail group, Salling Group, together with Delfi Technologies, has rolled out a new MDM platform (Mobile Device Management) and achieved full control over 13,000 mobile devices – across three countries and multiple retail chains.

At Salling Group, which owns chains such as Bilka, Føtex, Netto, BR, and Salling, technology plays a key role in the daily operation of stores, warehouses, and logistics centers. To ensure that everything runs efficiently and securely, it is crucial to have an overview of and control over all mobile devices (e.g., handheld terminals) – across device types, countries, and retail chains.

That’s why Salling Group uses MDM to manage all of the Group’s mobile devices, no matter where they are used. With MDM, devices can easily be configured, updated, and secured centrally. If a device is lost or stolen, it can be locked or wiped remotely immediately. At the same time, the solution provides an overview of the devices’ status, ensuring stable and consistent operations – even in a complex organization like Salling Group.

Digital modernization across three countries

In close collaboration with the Danish IT specialist Delfi Technologies, Salling Group has carried out a digital upgrade at record speed. In just 90 days, more than 13,000 mobile devices have been consolidated into a single new cloud-based platform: SureMDM. The solution enables centralized monitoring, management, and support – whether a device is located at headquarters, in a store, or in a warehouse.

With SureMDM, Salling Group has full control over its mobile devices in Denmark, Germany, and Poland. Regardless of where the devices are located, they can be managed and supported centrally – an important prerequisite for efficient and stable IT operations in a large organization.

A key strength of the solution is the user-friendly platform, which makes it possible to manage the setup and configuration of thousands of devices from one place. This significantly streamlines IT operations and reduces the risk of errors.

Central management of all devices, no matter where they are located
Remote support, allowing technical issues to be resolved quickly – without physical contact
Kiosk Mode, which locks devices to specific functions and prevents misuse
Geotracking, which helps keep track of location and activity
The option to connect additional devices – such as label printers or receipt printers (if needed)
Find My Device – a feature to locate devices and prevent loss

“Find My Device” helps create extra peace of mind in daily operations. With this feature, lost or misplaced devices (handheld terminals, tablets, etc.) can be quickly tracked and located – directly from the IT department’s dashboard. This reduces the risk of data loss, unnecessary replacements, and security breaches – and can save both time and money.
