ABC Low Cost: Partnering with Delfi Technologies for better customer experiences
The family-owned supermarket chain ABC Lavpris with 15 stores in Jutland and Funen has chosen the IT company, Delfi Technologiesas supplier of a new POS system and price checkers for all stores.
ABC Lavpris is a reputable Jutland supermarket chain with many years of retail experience. With the desire to improve the customer experience in stores and upgrade the shopping experience, the chain has teamed up with IT company Delfi Technologies.
The collaboration is based on close dialog and advice on replacing the chain’s previous POS hardware and implementing a new POS system and price checkers in the stores.
Choice of Delfi Technologies as a business partner
Delfi Technologies has been a close partner for ABC Lavpris in the replacement of their POS hardware and the introduction of price checkers, which are now placed around the stores to give customers better and more up-to-date information about product prices.
ABC Lavpris wanted new uniform and stylish POS systems from Diebold Nixdorf in all stores. This has created the same setup in all stores, which facilitates IT operations for the chain. In addition, the new POS hardware also takes up significantly less space, which provides both customers and employees with eye-level communication.
With the right planning and a detailed roll-out plan, it was possible to ensure that all the different elements of the new POS solution were delivered on time, so it was ready at the agreed time - without disrupting store operations.
Delfi Price checkers for an improved customer experience
ABC Lavpris has also chosen to implement Delfi price checkers in all of their stores. This solution will meet ABC Lavpris’ goal to improve the customer experience and give customers easy access to updated price information.
A few price checkers have been installed in most stores, placed in various strategic locations, where customers can scan products and get instant information about prices, offers and possible discounts. This has made it much easier for customers to compare prices and make informed purchasing decisions.
The right help with rollout plans and implementation
With the right planning and a detailed roll-out plan, it was possible to ensure that all the different elements of the new POS solution were delivered on time, so it was ready at the agreed time – without disrupting store operations.
In the same connection, ABC Lavpris also chose to introduce Magellan bi-optical scanners from Datalogic in 5 stores. The rest of the stores will have them installed on an ongoing basis. In addition to ensuring efficient and fast scanning of goods, it is also a good ergonomic experience for employees. With bi-optical scanners, employees can scan items from many different angles. This makes it both efficient and fast to scan the thousands of items that pass through the checkout line every day.
In addition, ABC Lavpris has chosen to replace their 2-line customer display with an 8″ LCD display for better and more information to the customer.
About ABC Low Cost
ABC Lavpris has its roots back in 1981, when cousins Esper and Henning Tobiasen went into partnership. Together they bought a minimarket in Videbæk, which bore the name ABC-Super (later changed to ABC Lavpris). Today, ABC Lavpris consists of 15 large discount supermarkets with a total annual turnover of just over DKK 1.7 billion. The stores are located in central Jutland, with the exception of a single store on Funen. ABC Lavpris employs approx. 800 skilled employees across the 15 stores, as well as the head office and central warehouse in Tarm.
