Eventyrsport ready with a brand new store concept

The rapid development in retail is no exception for Eventyrsport, which has recently merged with Racingdenmark and introduced a completely new store concept with a focus on unique customer experiences. As part of the store concept, electronic price tags play a crucial role for both employees and customers.

One of the biggest steps has been taken in the history of Eventyrsport, which has merged with Racingdenmark as of July 1, 2020. With Racingdenmark as specialists in running experiences and Eventyrsport as Denmark’s largest outdoor chain, the best of both worlds will be combined under the Eventyrsport name.

The first physical offshoot of the merger between the two chains can be found in Silkeborg, where Eventyrsport has opened a brand new 1,200 square meter flagship store with a new store concept. Here, the two concepts are united under a strong community, with equipment and advice for great experiences in nature.

Nature is therefore also the focal point for the launch of the new store concept, which offers an adventure for sports and outdoor enthusiasts. In the store, all parameters are set in terms of store design, concept and special experiences. Since its opening on October 10, 2020, the store has gotten off to a flying start with an impressive customer flow.

"We quickly realized that Eventyrsport and Racingdenmark are very similar with our passion for nature. In that context, we could see some clear advantages in uniting the two worlds and offering a combined store concept for outdoor and running."

Emil Holtet Søgaard, Retail Manager at Eventyrsport

BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN E-COMMERCE AND PHYSICAL STORES

In the new store, and in the existing Eventyrsport stores, there is currently a great deal of interaction with the webshop, which acts as an external warehouse. In the stores, there is a PC that the staff can use as a reference for the customer if a given item is not in stock in the store, but is in stock in the webshop.

Customers should choose to shop in stores through special experiences, competent advice and an inspiring omni-channel universe that ensures customers a good experience across all channels.

As an additional element to bridge the gap between the webshop and the stores, Eventyrsport has installed electronic price tags in all stores. The special focus on digital experiences should provide an extended shopping experience, as customers today often start their journey online.

In addition, Emil Holtet Søgaard explains that it used to take up to 3-4 days for an employee to prepare the store for new campaigns. Therefore, employees also get a better experience via electronic shelf labels.

– We’re seeing big gains in time. It all happens in the blink of an eye now. The electronic shelf labels have given us a tool that ties the two worlds closely together, giving us more digital parameters to work with,” he explains.

HAS A MUCH BETTER STOCK STATUS

Before Eventyrsport implemented electronic shelf labels in stores, all items were marked with a paper label upon receipt. This was time-consuming and also increased the risk of labeling errors, as everything was done manually and it was easy to make incorrect registrations.

– The full effect of electronic price labeling can be achieved by installing it in all stores. We also see a significant gain in our status in the stores,” says Emil Holtet Søgaard and continues:

– Previously, there was a greater risk of errors already in the goods receiving department, where we had to mark all items with a price label. This process is now done digitally, which eliminates many errors.
