Mobile PDAs help with shoe shopping for millions
Shoe-D-Vision, a Danish-Norwegian shoe group with over 200 Skoringen and Zjoos shoe stores in its portfolio, sells over 2.9 million pairs of shoes every year. The stores use mobile PDAs to ensure correct and efficient inventory management and ordering of goods – a solution that saves time and increases the productivity of store staff.
Leading footwear group Shoe-D-Vision wanted to upgrade an outdated IT solution that was used at internal exhibitions for stores to view new products and place orders. Specifically, Shoe-D-Vision needed a more efficient inventory management system that would optimize the purchasing process and ultimately create a better customer experience in the stores.
In addition, Shoe-D-Vision also had an ambition to reduce the stores’ overall paper consumption, improve information flow and increase the productivity of store staff. Therefore, a formal tender process was initiated to evaluate different possible suppliers and potential solutions.
After comparing different solutions, Shoe-D-Vision chose to work with its already long-term partner, IT company Delfi Technologies. Working closely with Shoe-D-Vision, Delfi Technologies helped design and build a complete mobile solution that works live in a retail environment.

FASTER RESPONSE AND MORE EFFICIENT EMPLOYEES
The solution from Delfi Technologies consists of Zebra TC51 mobile PDAs with integration to Shoe-D-Vision’s proprietary online software apps – SHOEpda and SHOEshow. Delfi Technologies hosts the entire Enterprise solution, which consists of SOTI MobiControl – a centralized tool for remote management, configuration and updating of the mobile devices. In addition, a service agreement (Delfi Premium) ensures fast response time in case something should happen to the devices.
At Shoe-D-Vision’s in-house exhibitions, stores and buyers can now pre-order items quickly and efficiently directly on the day of the show using SHOWshow and the mobile PDA. Here, stores can order from more than 25,000 items from all the many suppliers. This saves time and helps reduce overall paperwork.
On a daily basis, stores also use mobile devices for inventory management with SHOEpda. Here, stores can see the current stock status directly on the mobile PDA. This allows store staff to stay in-store with customers, respond faster and be more productive on the floor when facing the customer. It’s a solution that is both efficient and user-friendly, according to Asger Simonsen, Chief Information Officer at Shoe-D-Vision:
